According to a pawnbrokers, internet searches for engagement rings have skyrocketed and are up by 250% as people plan to propose to a loved one at Christmas

If you’re thinking about getting down on one knee this Christmas – you won’t have to hop on a plane to pop that all important question at one of the world’s most Instagrammable places to propose.
H&T Pawnbrokers has revealed the most Instagrammable places to propose in the world, celebrating the people we love with a grand romantic gesture during the holidays.
In fact, not one, but seven of the globe’s most picturesque spots for a romantic engagement are right here in the UK – with two in the same city.
Greece’s Santorini took the top spot as the most picture-perfect place for a proposal – followed by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and New York’s Times Square.
But in the UK, it’s the London Eye where most people want to propose, with 3,300,000 hashtags on Instagram.

The tourist attraction even offers a proposal package, with a private pod and a bottle of Pommery Brut Royal Champagne, luxury box of Hotel Chocolat Pink Champagne Truffles, a Personal London Eye host and priority boarding.
The seventh most Instagrammable place to propose in the world, behind the Empire State Building and Cinque Terre, Italy, is London’s The Shard.
And they even have a private proposal package at The View from The Shard starting at £775.
The building has almost twice the height of any other point in the city, offering breathtaking panoramic views spanning up to 40 miles.

Down South, Cornwall’s St Michael’s Mount is a National Trust site that you can walk to when the tide is out, making for a beautiful coastal proposal.
Or if you prefer the Lake District national park, Aira Force waterfall is the perfect place to get down on one knee. And if your partner is a fan of William Wordsworth, this is the place that inspired his poem ‘Somnambulist’.
Finally, the Peak District’s Surprise View is a spectacular view point above Hathersage and is known for being one of the best viewpoints in the national park – and also for being a great spot to sit and watch the sunset.
Following the pandemic, which saw thousands of weddings cancelled or postponed, proposals look to be on the rise, with searches for engagement rings for women have increased by 250% from last year.
And lovers are wondering how much to spend on the token of their love too, with searches for ‘how much should I spend on an engagement ring’ increasing by 350% over the last year.
One thing’s for sure – you won’t need to buy a plane ticket to make it a truly special experience.
