COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — Dozens of military and first responder brides-to-be received their dream wedding dresses for free thanks to a Colorado Springs bridal store and a national organization.
Wednesday, Something New Boutique partnered with Brides Across America. The non-profit provides donated wedding dresses from across the country to military and first responder brides.
“We have such a heart for the military community. Especially for first responders after everything they’ve been through over the past couple of years,” said Sophia Burgo with Something New.
Taryn Labree was one of the 40 brides receiving free dresses. She’s engaged to a cadet at the Air Force Academy. Labree grew up in Colorado Springs and knows how deep the military community runs.
“Transitioning to being a bride to a military guy it’s just super cool to see the community surround you, and support you, and do all the really cool things to help our military and their families,” said Labree.
Labree says not having to worry about the expense of a dress is a gift too.
“It’s huge. It’s not a joke when you say wedding in front of anything, automatically adds like thousands of dollars. To have an experience like this and save money it’s such a blessing because then we can turn around and support other people who are in need too,” said Labree.
Since 2008, organizers say Brides Across America has donated more than 27,000 wedding dresses.
