With smaller ceremonies the new norm, bridalwear has had to adapt — the demand for more affordable, understated looks and non-traditional designs has increased. At Net-a-porter there has been a rise in the popularity of alternative pieces that can be worn post-altar too, such as co-ordinates, slip dresses and suits, and it has more mini and mid-length dresses available versus traditional floor-length gowns. It’s a similar story at Matchesfashion, as sales of bridal jackets, trousers and tops are up 35 per cent, 65 per cent and 40 per cent respectively on last year.
